Uveitis and ocular inflammation
Dr. Rosenbaum is the founding director of OHSU's Uveitis Clinic, with more than four decades treating the full spectrum of inflammatory eye disease. He was recognized by ExpertScape as the world's top-ranked expert in uveitis for twelve consecutive years (2013–2024), based on his publications and their impact.
Ocular inflammatory diseases typically evaluated by Dr. Rosenbaum and his retina colleague, Sirichai Pasadhika, M.D., include uveitis, scleritis, orbital inflammation, mucous membrane pemphigoid, and steroid-sensitive optic neuropathy.

Biologic & immunosuppressive therapy
International co-chair of landmark guidelines for immunosuppression in uveitis. Extensive experience on data safety monitoring boards and clinical endpoints committees for major pharmaceutical trials, including agents such as ipilimumab, secukinumab, and adalimumab.
Teacher and mentor
Recipient of the Dean's Award for teaching excellence at Oregon Health & Science University. Co-founder of a high school science research program serving approximately 70 students annually. Training director for fellowship programs, and mentor to physicians and scientists now on the faculty at major academic centers including Duke, UC San Diego, Rochester, Yale, Oxford, Harvard, Oregon Health & Science University, the University of Melbourne, and Flinders University.
In 2024 he was the inaugural recipient of the Manfred Zierhut Teaching Award from the International Uveitis Study Group.
Medical-legal expert
Dr. Rosenbaum has testified in multiple national litigations concerning corporate liability related to his expertise in rheumatology and ocular inflammation. His clients have included 3M, Jewel Foods, and multiple manufacturers of silicone breast implants. More recently he has advised attorneys on malpractice litigation related to his knowledge of the interface between rheumatology and ophthalmology.

Consultant with biotech expertise
Dr. Rosenbaum served as Senior Vice-President for Research at Corvus Pharmaceuticals (2022–2025), bringing academic expertise to the development of novel immuno-oncology and inflammatory disease therapies. He had principal responsibility for exploring potential indications and designing trials for soquelitinib — an inhibitor of the T cell enzyme ITK — for non-oncologic indications such as eczema.
He has served as a consultant to numerous pharmaceutical companies, providing advice about product development and participating in or chairing Data Monitoring Committees.
