Family

Four generations of writers and three generations of notable physicians.

Dr. Rosenbaum's maternal grandmother, Rose Naftalin, authored two highly successful cookbooks. His father, Edward E Rosenbaum, founded the division of rheumatology as a volunteer at what was then the University of Oregon Medical School; his autobiography, A Taste of My Own Medicine, became the 1991 Disney film The Doctor, starring William Hurt. His older brother, Richard Rosenbaum, is a neurologist and the author of three scholarly medical texts.

His wife, Sandra Lewis, is a cardiologist who currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the American College of Cardiology and is the founder of the Sandra J. Lewis Women's Mid-Career Institute, under the auspices of the ACC. Drs. Rosenbaum and Lewis have two daughters, both physicians. Lisa Rosenbaum is a Harvard cardiologist and National Correspondent for the New England Journal of Medicine. Jennifer Rosenbaum is an endocrinologist, fellowship-trained in information technology, who writes novels under a pseudonym.
